Office Zombies
Office Zombies is a prototype project for a survival horror FPS created using UE5. My main objective with this project was to create a simple game that could allow me to experiment with various mechanics, effects, and systems. I knew I wanted to create a survival horror game with slow, limited movement, and open exploration. So I decided to create a game where the player must collect three fuses in order to escape a zombie-infested office and warehouse.
I decided to go with an office and warehouse for the level because I wanted to create multiple tight, claustrophobic spaces that you typically see in other survival horror games such as the Resident Evil franchise. An environment like this allowed me to heavily experiment with the level design, and find the right balance both for difficulty and exploration. I scarcely played ammo and health pickups around the level, because I never wanted the player to feel too safe, or feel like they can easily kill every zombie.
This project was fully created through the use of blueprints. Creating multiple modular, customizable actors, mechanics, and systems allowed for a very flexible project where I could experiment with ease.
The shotgun used by the player is an asset I created as well. I originally made this as part of a 3D side project, but I felt it would suit the game well, so I decided to include it. You can view more renders of the shotgun on my ArtStation.
